Main scientific interests: taxonomy and phytogeography of taxa of several plant families (Chenopodiaceae, Amaranthaceae, Polygonaceae, Scrophulariaceae s.l., Rosaceae, Asteraceae, Poaceae, and some others) on the worldwide basis; biodiversity conservation; regional and comparative floristics (mostly Ukraine and Eastern Europe, also North America and Asia, recently also Australia and New Zealand); invasive alien species, paleobotany / paleopalynology (Pleistocene – Holocene of E Europe); evolutionary pollen morphology; history of flora; herbarium curation; environmental education; science education.
